The residence was designed to easily and inconspicuously accommodate the owner’s disability. The historic district location of the home provided a unique series of constraints on the design where conformance was uncompromised. The owners desire for a comfortable and relaxed contemporary design rooted in Cape Cod architectural traditions was a driving force in the residence’s design.
An element of the contemporary design was the structural arrangement of pods linked together forming a consistent modular layout; simplifying the structure and reducing project costs.
Emerging from the owners’ love of the site and their connection to the environment, a house designed to meld with the environment and site geography was developed.
